Mexican Bush Sage (Salvia Leucantha)

Mexican Bush Sage, Salvia leucantha, is a steadfast perennial in western gardens. This perennial, a native to forests in Central America and Mexico, has grey-green, lanceolate leaves with velvety-white undersides. Spring to late-fall, hummingbirds and other pollinators are attracted to this sage’s white and purple flowers that bloom from arching, 12” spires.

Plant in sun to partial shade and provide low water in the hottest months. Cold hardy to 20° F, Mexican Bush Sage stays evergreen in warm climates. Growing 3-4’ tall and 3-6’ wide, plant Salvia leucantha in masses or as accents in Mediterranean, coastal, water-wise and traditional landscapes.
